Making Waves is a coming-of-age sports drama about Allie Dawson, a gifted high school water polo player who moves with her single mother, Mary, to a new town — hoping a fresh start will bring them closer to a more stable life. But when Allie learns that the girls’ water polo season has been canceled, she fights for a spot on the Central High boys’ team, seeing it as her only way to earn a college scholarship and create the future she wants.

As Allie begins to prove she belongs, the pressure around her intensifies. She faces a hostile teammate (Jared), school politics, and the fear that one mistake could cost her everything. Beneath her toughness is a wound she does not fully know how to carry: her father left, and Allie has turned that absence into both anger and ambition. Her relationship with Mary — loving, messy, and full of hope — becomes her anchor, even as Allie feels the weight of everything riding on her success.

When Jared’s hostility escalates, Allie discovers that talent and determination may not be enough to get her through the season. She has to learn when to fight on her own and when to rely on other people — including Travis, a teammate who is both an ally and a threat, and Zoe, a former girls’ player who understands what Allie is up against and helps her see the game differently.

In the final push toward the state championship, Central High has to become more than the boys’ team Allie fought to join — it has to become a real team. With college coaches watching and her scholarship dream still within reach, Allie gets one last chance to prove she belongs and turn an impossible season into something bigger than herself.
